Pinterest is experiencing a surge of AI-generated content that is making it difficult for users to find authentic human-created materials. According to an article by Maggie Harrison Dupré published on Futurism, AI-generated images and posts are dominating search results across categories including recipes, DIY projects, art, and fashion. The author found that many top search results link to websites with fake AI-generated personas posing as bloggers. Some marketers openly boast about using AI to “dominate” Pinterest, creating thousands of posts with minimal effort to generate ad revenue. While Pinterest claims AI content represents a small percentage of impressions, users are increasingly frustrated by the platform’s failure to effectively label or filter AI-generated material, with some abandoning the platform altogether.
