Meta has begun testing a feature that automatically generates AI images of Instagram users and displays them in their personal feeds. According to Jason Koebler from 404 Media, the feature creates scenarios based on users who have previously utilized Meta’s “Imagine Yourself” AI tool. A Reddit user first reported seeing AI-generated images of himself in a mirror maze setting, prompting initial skepticism from other users. Meta confirmed the feature’s existence, emphasizing that these images are visible only to the individual user and are not advertisements. The company explained that users must first participate in the “Imagine Yourself” onboarding process to receive such content. Users can opt out by selecting “hide” or “stop seeing this content” in the post settings. The feature is part of Meta’s broader initiative to integrate AI-generated content across its platforms.
