Meta Platforms is investing $10 billion to build its largest data center to date in Louisiana’s Richland Parish, according to a Reuters report by Priyanka G and Seher Dareen. The hyperscaler facility, designed to process AI workloads, will be powered by renewable energy through a partnership with utility provider Entergy. Construction is set to begin in December 2023 and continue through 2030. The announcement follows Meta’s recent call for proposals from nuclear power developers, as the company aims to secure 1-4 gigawatts of new nuclear generation capacity by the early 2030s to support its growing AI computing needs.
