Intel’s new “Arrow Lake” desktop platform emphasizes AI and a new architecture. According to Gavin Bonshor of “The Register,” Intel is integrating an AI-focused NPU into its desktop processors for the first time. The chips utilize a tiled design and are manufactured by TSMC, while Intel handles the packaging.
The new processors, codenamed “Lion Cove” (performance cores) and “Skymont” (efficiency cores), promise significant performance gains over the previous “Raptor Lake” generation. Graphics performance is said to double.
Intel is also introducing the new LGA 1851 socket and the Z890 chipset. The “Core Ultra 200” series comprises five models and is slated for release on October 24, with prices starting at $294. Versions for professional use and gaming laptops are planned for 2025.
