Amazon tests AI shopping and health assistants for personalized recommendations

Amazon is testing new generative AI tools to enhance its e-commerce offerings, including a shopping assistant called Interests AI and a health-focused chatbot. As reported by Annie Palmer for CNBC, these features are currently available to a subset of users. Interests AI allows customers to describe their needs conversationally, generating curated product selections based on those descriptions. Meanwhile, the Health AI assistant provides medical guidance, suggests care options, and recommends relevant products. Some responses feature a “clinically verified” badge, indicating review by licensed clinicians. Amazon confirmed these tools operate on Bedrock, the company’s cloud service that accesses AI models. The company plans to expand Interests AI to all U.S. users in coming months, further integrating AI capabilities across its platforms.
