Google launches dedicated Gemini AI app for iOS users

Google has released a standalone Gemini AI chatbot application for iPhone users worldwide. Tech journalist David Pierce reports that the free app offers text, voice, and camera-based interactions with the AI assistant. The app’s main feature is Gemini Live, an interactive conversational mode similar to ChatGPT’s voice capabilities, which appears in the iPhone’s Dynamic Island and lockscreen. While the app largely mirrors functionality available through Google’s main app and website, it aims to increase accessibility by providing direct homescreen access. The app can integrate with other Google services like YouTube Music and Maps, though it cannot control phone settings or third-party applications.
