At its “Made on YouTube” event, YouTube announced several new tools that use artificial intelligence to assist content creators. The new features are designed for podcasters and for creators of its short-form video format, Shorts.
New tools for podcasters
YouTube says it will use AI to help video podcasters create promotional clips more easily by suggesting sections of their content. A separate feature will then transform these clips into YouTube Shorts. For creators with audio-only podcasts, the company is introducing an AI-powered tool that can generate a customizable video to accompany their audio. According to the announcement, these features will be rolled out in the coming months and early next year.
Generative AI for Shorts
Shorts creators will receive a range of new generative AI capabilities. A new text-to-video tool, based on Google’s Veo 3 model, will allow users to create short video clips from text descriptions. Other new features include a “Speech to Song” tool that turns spoken dialogue into a musical soundtrack and an “Edit with AI” function. This function can automatically create a first draft of a Short by arranging raw footage, adding music, and including transitions. YouTube stated these new tools will be released in the coming months.
