Moonvalley launches AI video model trained exclusively on licensed data

Moonvalley has introduced Marey, a new AI video model trained solely on legally acquired and licensed content. According to Carl Franzen of VentureBeat, this approach addresses copyright concerns plaguing many competing AI video models that use scraped web content. Moonvalley CEO Naeem Talukdar stated, “People said it wasn’t technically feasible to build a cutting-edge AI video model without using scraped data. We proved otherwise.” The company has raised $70 million in seed funding from investors including Bessemer Venture Partners and Khosla Ventures. Marey offers professional features including native HD generation, 30-second video sequences, and layer-based editing capabilities that allow separate control of foreground, midground, and background elements. The model is currently available on a waitlist basis to select studios and filmmakers, with wider availability expected within weeks.
