Moonvalley, a Los Angeles-based startup, is developing generative video tools with a focus on ethical data usage and creator rights. As reported by Kyle Wiggers for TechCrunch, the company distinguishes itself by exclusively using licensed content from opted-in creators for training its AI models. Founded by former Zapier executive Naeem Talukdar and DeepMind scientists, Moonvalley has secured $70 million in seed funding to develop models that respect copyrights and trademark rights. The company plans to implement strict content filters, allow creators to request content removal, and offer indemnity protection against copyright challenges. Unlike competitors who often use public data without permission, Moonvalley works with data brokers to acquire properly licensed training materials and aims to launch its first model later this year.
