Hume AI has launched Voice Control, a new feature that enables developers to create custom AI voices by adjusting vocal characteristics through an interface with sliding controls. As reported by Carl Franzen for VentureBeat, the tool allows users to modify voices along ten different dimensions including assertiveness, confidence, and enthusiasm without requiring coding skills. The system builds upon the company’s existing Empathic Voice Interface 2 (EVI 2) technology and deliberately avoids voice cloning to address ethical concerns. Users can access the feature through Hume’s virtual playground after free registration, where they can fine-tune voice attributes in real time. The company, co-founded by former Google DeepMind researcher Alan Cowen, bases its technology on cross-cultural voice recordings and emotional survey data.
