Google updates Flow and Flow Music with new AI model and mobile apps

Google has announced a series of updates to its AI-powered creative platforms, Google Flow and Google Flow Music. The changes were revealed at Google I/O, the company’s annual developer conference, and include a new AI model, an agentic assistant, custom tool-building and mobile applications.

Google Flow is an AI creative studio that lets users generate, edit and animate video and images using natural language. Google Flow Music is a companion platform focused on music creation and song production. Both products are now available in over 140 countries.

What’s new in Google Flow

The most significant addition is Gemini Omni Flash, a new AI model that Google says can accept any type of input — including video — and produce precise, conversational edits. According to Google, it improves character consistency, meaning that a person’s appearance and voice remain the same across different scenes. Gemini Omni Flash is available to Google AI subscribers globally.

Google is also introducing a conversational agent built on Gemini models. The agent can help at every stage of a project, from early brainstorming to editing. It can suggest dialogue, recommend plot directions, generate multiple variations of content at once and organize assets into collections. The agent is available to all Google Flow users globally.

A third feature, called Flow Tools, lets users create custom tools and workflows using plain language, without any coding knowledge. Examples include a video resizer, custom image filters or visual effects. Tools can be shared and remixed by other users. All Flow users can access existing tools, while Google AI subscribers can also create and remix them.

What’s new in Google Flow Music

Google Flow Music is receiving more granular editing controls. Users can now highlight any section of a track and make targeted changes — such as rewriting or translating lyrics or adjusting the beat — without affecting the rest of the song. A new covers feature allows users to transform the style of a full track while keeping its original melody and structure.

Gemini Omni Flash is also coming to Google Flow Music, allowing users to create and share music videos. Users can guide the visual style, subjects and scenes of a video to match their track through conversational prompts. This feature is available to Google AI subscribers.

Mobile apps

Google is launching mobile apps for both platforms. The Flow app is available on Android in beta, with iOS coming soon. The Flow Music app is available on iOS, with Android coming soon. Google states that the web versions remain the primary platforms for full feature access.

The updates position both tools as end-to-end creative environments rather than single-purpose applications, addressing what Google describes as a fragmented and expensive creative software landscape.
