Google has launched “scheduled actions” for its Gemini AI assistant, allowing subscribers to automate routine tasks and receive personalized updates at specific times.
Users can now ask Gemini to perform recurring tasks, such as providing daily calendar summaries or generating weekly blog post ideas. The AI assistant can also handle one-time scheduled requests, like summarizing an award show the day after it airs.
Dave Citron, Senior Director of Product Management for the Gemini app, stated that users simply need to “tell Gemini what you need and when, and it will take care of the rest.” The company positions this feature as part of making Gemini “more personal, proactive and powerful.”
Managing scheduled tasks
Subscribers can manage their automated tasks through a dedicated “scheduled actions” page in the Gemini app settings. This allows users to modify or cancel previously set up routines.
The feature is available exclusively to users with Google AI Pro or Ultra subscriptions, as well as qualifying Google Workspace business and education plans. OpenAI’s ChatGPT already offers similar scheduling capabilities to its subscribers.
