Google expands NotebookLM with interactive AI features and enterprise version

Google has announced significant updates to its AI-powered note-taking application NotebookLM, including a new interactive feature for its Audio Overviews function and an enterprise-focused version called NotebookLM Plus. The application, which has gained popularity for its ability to generate podcast-like conversations between AI hosts based on source materials, now allows users to directly interact with these synthetic hosts during playback to ask questions and receive additional information.

The company has redesigned the NotebookLM interface, organizing it into three distinct panels: Sources for managing imported information, Chat for discussing content through a conversational interface, and Studio for creating various outputs like study guides and audio summaries. This restructuring aims to make the tool more user-friendly and efficient for research and content organization purposes.

The new enterprise version, NotebookLM Plus, offers enhanced features including five times more audio summaries and data sources per notebook, customizable AI response styles, and shared team notebooks with analytics capabilities. Google has integrated these business-focused features with additional security and privacy controls, making it available through Google Cloud’s Agentspace platform and as part of the Gemini for Workspace plan. The company notes that while the interactive audio feature is currently in beta and only available in English, users should remain aware that AI responses may contain inaccuracies and should be fact-checked.
