According to Emanuel Maiberg from 404 Media, people are using Runway’s AI video generator to transform disturbing content, including real suicide footage and terrorist attacks, into cartoon-style videos. These modified clips often accumulate thousands of views before detection. The AI-altered versions appear to bypass standard content moderation tools, making them harder to identify and remove. TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube have been affected by this trend, with some videos remaining online until journalists alerted the platforms. While social media companies use hash-based detection systems to block known violent content, experts say these tools struggle to identify AI-modified versions.
