Apple has announced that its “more personalized Siri” capabilities, part of the Apple Intelligence suite, will be delayed until next year. In a statement provided to John Gruber of Daring Fireball, Apple spokesperson Jacqueline Roy explained that these features would take longer than anticipated to develop. The delayed functionality would have given Siri greater awareness of users’ personal context and the ability to take actions across apps. The assistant would have been able to perform complex tasks like finding specific podcast recommendations from messages or tracking flight information from emails. According to Gruber’s analysis, this likely means these features are being postponed from the current OS cycle to iOS 19 and macOS 16. Apple emphasized its commitment to not shipping products before they’re ready, prioritizing reliability for features that access sensitive personal information. At the same time, its notification summary feature has been criticized as wildly inaccurate.
