Apple is adding a beta AI assistant to Keynote, Pages, Numbers, and Logic Pro, expanding generative AI features across its productivity and creative software. Emma Roth reports for The Verge that the assistant combines models from Apple and OpenAI and can use the context of an open document or project to complete tasks.
In Keynote, the assistant can help design, animate, and refine presentations. Pages users can ask it to draft, reorganize, or revise text. In Numbers, it can calculate and arrange data, create visualizations, recommend chart formats, and build custom tables.
The feature will launch in beta on devices that support Apple Intelligence and run iOS 27, iPadOS 27, or macOS 27 or later.
Third party agents can connect through MCP
Apple is also bringing Model Context Protocol support to Keynote, Pages, and Numbers on macOS 27 or later. MCP is a standard that lets external AI agents connect to software tools and access relevant context. The addition could allow third party AI services to work directly with documents, presentations, and spreadsheets in Apple’s apps.
Other creative applications are receiving AI related updates as well. Pixelmator Pro is adding Generate Fill, which edits a selected area of an image from a text instruction. Apple says the tool matches surrounding light, perspective, and texture to make changes blend into the image.
Logic Pro for Mac and iPad will gain an AI assistant that can set up a vocal track from one prompt and modify existing projects. Its Mac version also gets a redesigned Browser that uses on device AI to analyze, classify, and tag imported sounds.
Final Cut Pro is adding MotionVFX templates, graphics, titles, and transitions, alongside a Content Hub for stock footage, photos, and backgrounds. Apple says Creator’s Studio subscribers will receive the updates at no extra charge in November.
