AI-generated tracks make up 44% of new music uploads on Deezer

Deezer now receives nearly 75,000 fully AI-generated tracks every day, making up 44% of all new music uploaded to the platform. An official press release states that this figure has grown from 10,000 daily uploads in early 2025 to its current level in roughly one year.

Despite the volume, AI-generated music accounts for only 1 to 3% of total streams on the platform. Deezer attributes this to active countermeasures, including removing AI-detected tracks from algorithmic recommendations and editorial playlists. The company also reports that 85% of streams generated by AI tracks are flagged as fraudulent and are therefore excluded from royalty payments.

Deezer says it is the only streaming platform currently tagging AI-generated content. Its detection tool, which has been operational since early 2025, can identify music produced by popular generative tools such as Suno and Udio. The company has filed two patents for the underlying technology and is now licensing it to other industry players.

The broader financial stakes are significant. A study by CISAC and PMP Strategy estimates that nearly 25% of music creators’ revenues could be at risk by 2028, potentially totaling four billion euros.

A separate Ipsos survey of 9,000 people across eight countries found that 97% could not distinguish AI-generated music from human-made music in a blind test. Eighty percent said AI-generated tracks should be clearly labeled.
