Adobe plans to add AI-powered video generation to its Firefly software later this year. As Maxwell Zeff reports for TechCrunch, three new features – Generative Extend, Text to Video, and Image to Video – will initially be available in the beta version of Premiere Pro and on a free website. Generative Extend allows users to add two seconds to videos, while the other features create five-second videos from text or images. Other features remove unwanted objects and tweak transitions, writes Carl Franzen at VentureBeat.
Adobe emphasizes the high level of control over the output of the AI tools as a unique selling point. Of interest to enterprises: Adobe offers some legal protection for its image generators, and the training material comes from its own stock photo collection. However, it is not yet clear whether this will apply to the video function as well.
Pricing for these new features has yet to be determined, but Adobe plans to integrate them into the existing “generative credits” system for Creative Cloud customers.
