Your Chrome browser can now shop, fill forms, and plan trips for you

Google has introduced a series of AI-powered features for its Chrome browser, centered around a new capability called Auto Browse. The feature uses Gemini 3, Google’s latest AI model, and is designed to handle multi-step tasks on behalf of users.

Auto Browse can navigate websites, fill out forms, compare products across multiple tabs, and even complete purchases. The feature launches as part of a broader Chrome update that moves Gemini into a side panel interface, taking up roughly a quarter of the browser window. Users can share specific tabs with the AI assistant and grant permission for it to view content and take actions.

The feature handles tasks such as researching travel options, managing apartment listings, shopping based on images, and filling out registration forms using information from multiple sources. According to Parisa Tabriz, Google’s VP of Chrome, the focus is on mundane, repetitive tasks that she describes as “digital laundry.”

Auto Browse includes safety measures that require user confirmation before completing sensitive actions like making purchases or posting on social media. A pause button remains visible throughout, allowing users to take control at any time.

The feature is available to AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers in the United States. Chrome will also support Google’s Universal Commerce Protocol, developed with retailers including Shopify, Etsy, Wayfair, and Target.

Furthermore, Google plans to introduce Personal Intelligence to Chrome in the coming months. This feature, which users must opt into, connects information across Google apps including Gmail, Drive, Photos, and YouTube to provide more personalized assistance.
