Google has launched a feature called Skills in the Chrome browser that lets users save AI prompts and run them again with a single click. The feature is available through the Gemini sidebar in Chrome on desktop.
Without Skills, repeating an AI task required users to type the same prompt each time they visited a new page. Skills removes that step. Users can save a prompt directly from their chat history and call it up later by typing a forward slash ( / ) or clicking the plus sign ( + ) in the Gemini chat box. The prompt then runs against the current page or any selected tabs.
Google also released a library of more than 50 preset Skills. According to Wired, these cover tasks such as summarizing YouTube videos, evaluating job listings, and suggesting recipe substitutions to increase protein intake. Users can add any preset to their saved Skills and edit the underlying prompt to suit their needs.
Google states that Skills use the same privacy and security safeguards already applied to Gemini in Chrome. The feature asks for confirmation before taking actions like adding calendar events or sending emails.
Wired notes that Chrome is not alone in offering this kind of tool. The Opera Neon browser has a similar feature called Cards, which also lets users reuse prompts or choose from a preset library.
