Gemini’s Dynamic View creates interactive answers

Google has launched a new feature for its AI model Gemini called “Dynamic View”, which transforms text-based answers into interactive, visual experiences. This development is seen as a significant challenge to OpenAI’s dominance in user-friendly AI products.

M.G. Siegler writes on Spyglass that Google is beginning to close the gap with its competitor in what he calls “product delight”. He notes that while Google’s initial AI, Bard, was a “flop”, the company has made significant strides with Gemini. Siegler has long considered OpenAI’s ChatGPT to be the leader in user experience, partly due to its first-mover advantage.

He describes the “Dynamic View” feature as “profound”, despite its bland name. It generates multimedia presentations from simple prompts. Siegler gives an example where it created an interactive explanation of the movie Interstellar, complete with background sounds and a functional time-dilation calculator. The AI reportedly created this complex output in about a minute.

According to Siegler, this tool makes it possible for anyone to create sophisticated content, opening up new possibilities for different learning styles. The feature is currently experimental, suggesting further improvements are likely. Siegler concludes that Google’s recent focus on product quality and user experience should be a concern for OpenAI.
