Microsoft is expanding its Copilot Mode in the Edge browser with new features powered by AI. According to the official Microsoft Edge Blog, the update aims to transform the browser into an intelligent assistant that can anticipate user needs and automate tasks.
A key addition is “Copilot Actions”, which allows users to command the browser to perform multi-step tasks. For example, users can ask Copilot to find and unsubscribe from shopping newsletters in their inbox or make a restaurant reservation. This feature is currently available in a limited preview in the United States.
Another new feature, called “Journeys”, automatically groups past browsing sessions by topic. This helps users resume previous projects or research without needing to manually save tabs. Microsoft states that Journeys suggests next steps to continue the work.
With user permission, Copilot Mode can now also use browsing history to provide more personalized and relevant responses in chat. Microsoft emphasizes that users remain in control of their data and can enable or disable Copilot Mode at any time. The company also highlights its privacy standards, stating that browsing history is never accessed without explicit consent. Copilot Mode is available on Edge for Windows and Mac and will be coming to the mobile app.
