Markus Kasanmascheff reports that these “PhD-level research agents” would target enterprise customers, offering advanced research capabilities and decision-making automation. The company is reportedly planning three pricing tiers at $2,000, $10,000, and $20,000 monthly. This strategic shift comes as OpenAI faces financial challenges with its current subscription models. The ChatGPT Pro subscription launched in December 2024 at $200 monthly is operating at a loss, as acknowledged by CEO Sam Altman in January 2025.
