AI startup Anthropic is negotiating a $2 billion funding round that would value the company at $60 billion. According to Wall Street Journal reporter Berber Jin, Lightspeed Venture Partners is leading the investment. The deal would make Anthropic the fifth most valuable U.S. startup, following its previous $18 billion valuation in 2023. The company’s chatbot Claude has gained popularity among businesses and developers, generating approximately $875 million in annualized revenue. Amazon, a major partner, previously committed $4 billion to Anthropic in November, while Google has also invested significantly. The funding surge follows OpenAI’s recent $6.6 billion raise, highlighting growing investor confidence in AI technology despite high operational costs and fierce competition in the sector.
