The Browser Company has released Dia, a new web browser that places artificial intelligence at its core. The beta version launched Wednesday for existing users of the company’s previous browser, Arc, while others must join a waitlist.
Dia features a ChatGPT-like chatbot accessible through a sidebar and the URL bar. The AI assistant can analyze open browser tabs, access browsing history, and help users find information or complete tasks. According to CEO Josh Miller, the AI learns from user behavior to become increasingly personalized over time.
Key features
The browser includes several AI-powered capabilities. Users can ask questions about multiple open tabs simultaneously, such as comparing cars across different websites. The AI can also summarize web pages, draft emails in Gmail, and write text in the user’s personal style.
Dia offers “Skills”: customizable shortcuts that automate specific tasks like hiding website sidebars or filling out forms. An optional History feature allows the browser to use seven days of browsing data to provide contextual responses.
The Browser Company positioned Dia as a response to the growing use of AI tools for daily tasks. By integrating AI directly into the browser, the company aims to eliminate the need to visit separate AI websites like ChatGPT or Claude.
Other browser makers have also added AI features. Microsoft’s Edge includes Copilot, while Opera has integrated ChatGPT and its own Aria AI. However, some companies like Vivaldi have avoided built-in AI, citing privacy concerns.
