This year’s Tribeca Festival will be the first to feature short films created entirely with OpenAI’s upcoming video AI, Sora. Five filmmakers will present their Sora-generated works and discuss the new technology at the festival.
Musician Washed Out released a new music video for his song “The Hardest Part,” which was created entirely using OpenAI’s Sora AI model. Director Paul Trillo used 55 short AI-generated video clips and combined them into a four-minute clip that demonstrates the current abilities of generative video AI.
OpenAI presents the first examples of selected filmmakers, artists and agencies who have created videos with the new Sora AI model. This is meant to show the potential of the technology, but continues to face criticism regarding the training data: It appears to have been used without the creators’ permission or payment.
