How PicsArt wants to stay competitive

The image editing platform PicsArt is more than a decade old at this point and is now focusing on “contextual intelligence” and AI agents to stand out in this competitive market, reports Shubham Sharma from VentureBeat. Instead of adding new features, PicsArt CTO Artavazd Mehrabyan explains that the company is prioritizing improving the quality of its existing AI-powered tools.

The goal is to enhance the output quality and make it easier for users to realize their creative projects, from removing unwanted objects to creating entire advertisements. To achieve this, PicsArt trains its own AI models using user-generated content licensed under “Free to edit.” This process involves multi-stage data cleansing and preparation. A proprietary feedback system combining AI and human expertise ensures continuous improvement.

The “contextual intelligence” aims to understand user needs and proactively generate suitable content, for example, by automatically considering brand language and tonality. In the future, AI agents will act as co-pilots, assisting users with creative tasks and even automating workflows such as applying designs to multiple resources.
