Perplexity launches enterprise AI agent and local computer tool

Perplexity has introduced two new AI agent products at its Ask 2026 developer conference in San Francisco. The announcements signal the company’s move beyond consumer search into enterprise software.

The first product, Perplexity Computer, is a cloud-based AI agent that the company now also launched for enterprise customers. It coordinates approximately 20 AI models from providers including Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, and xAI to complete complex tasks. Users describe an objective in plain language, and the system breaks it into subtasks, assigns each to a specialized model, and returns a finished output such as a report, analysis, or presentation.

Enterprise features include connectors to tools like Salesforce, Snowflake, SharePoint, Datadog, and HubSpot. The agent can be accessed directly inside Slack. Security measures include isolated virtual machines, SOC 2 Type II certification, audit logging, and an option for zero data retention.

Pricing for enterprise customers is usage-based rather than per seat.

The second product, Personal Computer, runs locally on a dedicated device such as a Mac mini. Perplexity says it is more secure than the open-source agent framework OpenClaw because every action requires user confirmation and an audit trail is built in. Access is initially limited to Mac users via a waitlist.
