US initiative aims to boost global use of AI

The United States and eight leading technology companies have launched the “Partnership for Global Inclusivity on AI”. As announced by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in New York, the partners are committing more than $100 million to harnessing AI for sustainable development in emerging markets. In addition to the U.S. State Department, the initiative includes Amazon, Anthropic, Google, IBM, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia, and OpenAI. The focus is on three areas: Access to AI models and computing power, building technical expertise, and expanding local datasets. Blinken also announced additional funding from the State Department, including $10 million for access to AI and $23 million for responsible AI use and regulation around the world.
