OpenAI’s mysterious “Strawberry” project could see the light of day in the next two weeks. This is according to a report by The Information. Market observers had high expectations. However, the information that has now become public has cooled the enthusiasm considerably. According to the report, Strawberry is a pure text model and specializes in “chain of thought”, where the AI first thinks about the answer behind the scenes before returning an output. As a result, the answers seem to take a lot longer: 10 to 20 seconds. It could also be more expensive to use than GPT-4o as well. At the same time, Strawberry’s performance seems to be only slightly better than conventional models and only in certain use cases. Source: Reddit
