OpenAI has expanded access to its Deep Research feature to all paying customers, including Plus, Team, Edu, and Enterprise subscribers. As reported by Igor Bonifacic for Engadget, this follows through on OpenAI’s promise made in early February to bring the tool to Plus users within about a month. Previously, the feature was only available to those with a $200 monthly Pro subscription.
Plus users will receive 10 Deep Research queries per month as part of their subscription, while Pro users will now get 120 monthly queries, up from the previous limit of 100. The company has also enhanced the tool’s functionality, adding embedded images alongside citations for richer insights and improving document analysis through better understanding of file types.
Deep Research allows users to prompt ChatGPT to create comprehensive reports on virtually any subject. To use the feature, subscribers need to tap the Deep Research icon before sending their prompts. The process of compiling answers can take between five and 30 minutes depending on query complexity.
OpenAI described the feature as “very compute intensive,” suggesting that free users may need to wait longer before gaining access to this capability.
