OpenAI announced that its business user base has grown to 3 million paying customers, up from 2 million in February. The company also launched several new workplace features designed to compete directly with Microsoft and Google in the enterprise market.
ChatGPT now includes connectors that integrate with popular cloud storage services including Google Drive, Dropbox, Box, SharePoint, and OneDrive. Users can query ChatGPT about documents stored in these services, such as asking about company revenue or travel expenses. The system respects existing organizational permissions and provides citations for its answers.
The company also introduced Record Mode, a meeting transcription feature available to Team users. It automatically transcribes conversations, generates timestamped notes, and suggests action items. Users can later search through meeting transcripts and convert action items into documents.
OpenAI expanded its Deep Research feature with connectors to HubSpot, Linear, and various Microsoft and Google tools. This allows the AI to create detailed research reports using both internal company data and web information.
The new Codex coding tool, powered by OpenAI’s upcoming reasoning system, can write code, fix bugs, and propose changes while working in secure cloud environments.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said companies that adopt AI early are performing better than those waiting. However, the company faces ongoing questions about data security and privacy from enterprise customers. OpenAI states it never trains its models on business customer data and implements enterprise-grade security measures.
