OpenAI CEO Sam Altman foresees a rapid evolution of artificial intelligence. In a blog post on his personal website, he predicts that super-intelligent AI could become a reality “in just a few thousand days”. Altman is also convinced that deep learning is capable of solving difficult problems such as climate change. Finally, the CEO believes that AI assistants will soon be ubiquitous. Everyone will have a personal AI team with virtual experts for different areas.
Altman admits that there are risks associated with AI development, but he sees enormous potential overall. He emphasizes the need to develop the necessary infrastructure to make AI accessible to everyone.
However, skeptics will note that this particularly optimistic and enthusiastic blog post coincides with negotiations of a huge new round of funding for OpenAI.
