Nvidia has announced its new GeForce RTX 50 series graphics cards, featuring the Blackwell architecture and significant AI processing improvements. The flagship RTX 5090, priced at $1,999, incorporates 92 billion transistors and delivers 4,000 AI TOPS (trillion operations per second), representing a major advancement in AI-powered graphics processing.
The new GPU series introduces several AI-focused technologies, including DLSS 4, which utilizes transformer model architecture for real-time frame generation. According to Nvidia, this technology can generate up to three additional frames per rendered frame, potentially increasing performance by up to eight times compared to traditional rendering. The company has also implemented RTX Neural Shaders, which embed small neural networks within the shaders to enhance texture compression and rendering efficiency.
The product lineup includes the RTX 5090 with 32GB of GDDR7 memory, the RTX 5080 at $999, the RTX 5070 Ti at $749, and the RTX 5070 at $549. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang emphasized how AI technology, which was initially enabled by GeForce, is now enhancing GeForce’s capabilities. The company states that laptop versions of these GPUs will be available starting March 2025, with various manufacturers including Acer, Asus, Dell, and HP offering compatible systems.
