Meet Remy: Google’s secret AI agent could change how you work, learn, and live

Google is developing a new AI agent for its Gemini platform that can perform tasks independently on behalf of users. Hilary Langley reports for Business Insider that the agent, internally named “Remy,” is currently being tested by Google employees.

According to an internal document reviewed by Business Insider, Remy runs within a staff-only version of the Gemini app and integrates with other Google services. The document describes it as “your 24/7 personal agent for work, school, and daily life.”

Unlike existing Gemini features that answer questions or generate content, Remy is designed to take direct action. It can monitor topics of interest, handle complex tasks proactively, and learn user preferences over time.

The project is classified as “dogfooding,” a common practice in which tech companies test products internally before public release. No launch timeline has been confirmed.

Remy draws comparisons to OpenClaw, an AI agent that gained widespread attention earlier this year for its ability to respond to messages and conduct research autonomously. OpenAI’s Sam Altman announced in February that the company had hired OpenClaw’s creator.

Google has not commented on Remy. The company is expected to showcase its latest AI developments at its annual Google I/O event later this month, where agents are anticipated to be a central topic.
