Google has released new advice on how to effectively use its Deep Research tool, which is now available to all users. According to a post on the official Google blog, Deep Research helps users explore complex topics through comprehensive reports. Aarush Selvan, Gemini Senior Product Manager, and Mukund Sridhar developed the tool to reduce research time for multi-faceted questions.
The six tips include determining when Deep Research is appropriate (best for topics requiring extensive browsing), starting with simple questions instead of complex prompts, asking follow-up questions to refine results, reviewing interesting links while the tool works, utilizing it for local searches, and taking advantage of new features like Audio Overviews and document export options.
Deep Research excels at tasks that typically require “lots of browsing and lots of tabs,” according to the developers. The new Audio Overview feature creates a podcast-style discussion of research findings, allowing users to consume information while multitasking. Users can also export reports to documents with complete citations.
The tool’s interface allows users to edit research plans before processing begins and view the AI’s thinking process while it works. According to Google, Deep Research is particularly effective for local inquiries and planning complex projects or events in specific geographic areas.
