Google is removing Gemini AI integration from its main iOS app and asking users to switch to the dedicated Gemini application. According to Ben Schoon from 9to5Google, the company began notifying iPhone and iPad users about this change via email. While Gemini was previously accessible through a switcher in the main Google app, newer features like Gemini Live were only available in the standalone version. The dedicated Gemini app, launched in November, offers a more complete feature set. Google has already removed the switcher interface, though some users can still access Gemini through the “More” tab in Google app version 356.0. The company emphasizes that the standalone Gemini app now provides the best experience for iOS users.
