Google Gemini introduces user memory feature

Google has launched a new memory feature for its Gemini chatbot that allows the AI to retain information about users’ preferences and characteristics across conversations. According to tech journalist Kyle Wiggers, the feature is currently available only to Google One AI Premium subscribers paying $20 monthly and works exclusively in English on the web client. The memory function enables Gemini to remember details like food preferences and technical capabilities, which it can then use to provide more personalized responses. Google emphasizes that while stored memories remain until manually deleted, they are not used for model training. The company has implemented the feature with security considerations, particularly following earlier discoveries of potential memory exploitation in similar AI systems.
