Google has expanded its video creation tool, Google Vids, with several new AI-powered features. The updates cover music generation, customizable avatars, and direct publishing to YouTube.
Users can now generate original music tracks directly inside Google Vids. Powered by Google’s Lyria 3 and Lyria 3 Pro models, the tool lets users type a text prompt to create clips of around 30 seconds or longer tracks of up to three minutes. This allows creators to produce music tailored to a specific brand, tone, or purpose without searching external libraries.
The avatar features have also been updated. Users can now create custom AI avatars using a prompt or a guided form, then refine details such as clothing, accessories, and background. Avatars can also be placed in different scenes and directed to interact with specific objects, while keeping the same face and voice throughout. Seven voice options are available. Google states that its avatars are preferred five times more often than those on other platforms, though the source of this comparison is not specified.
Finally, Google Vids now connects directly to YouTube. Users can export a finished video to YouTube without first downloading it as a file. All videos are set to private by default, giving creators a chance to review them before changing visibility settings.
These features are available across most Google Workspace plans, with some limited to higher-tier subscriptions.
