According to Gartner, artificial intelligence will make at least 15% of daily work decisions autonomously by 2028. This prediction was made by Gartner’s Gene Alvarez in an interview with VentureBeat. A key role will be played by AI agents: virtual employees who initially perform routine tasks and later monitor and manage systems autonomously. Gartner calls this technology one of the most important strategic technology trends for 2025. In the long term, AI agents could also train the workforce by guiding new employees and acting as mentors.
To build trust in AI, AI governance platforms are also becoming increasingly important. These platforms are designed to ensure transparency and responsible use of AI by, for example, checking for bias and providing information on how models are created. According to Alvarez, such tools will be integrated directly into the AI development process in the future.
To counteract the growing disinformation caused by AI, disinformation security is also becoming more important, including the detection of deep fakes and the prevention of identity theft. By 2028, Gartner expects half of all enterprises to use disinformation security products or services.
