Freepik launches AI image model trained on licensed data

Freepik has introduced F Lite, a new AI image generation model trained exclusively on commercially licensed, safe-for-work images. According to Kyle Wiggers at TechCrunch, the model contains approximately 10 billion parameters and was developed in partnership with AI startup Fal.ai. The training process used 64 Nvidia H100 GPUs over two months and utilized an internal dataset of about 80 million images. F Lite is available in two versions: a standard version focused on accuracy and a texture version that delivers better artistic compositions despite being more error-prone. The company aims to make the model openly available for developers to customize and improve, though running it requires a GPU with at least 24GB of VRAM. F Lite joins a growing collection of AI models trained on licensed data amid ongoing copyright lawsuits against companies using unlicensed content.
