The AI coding assistant Cursor has secured $100 million in Series B funding, reaching a post-money valuation of $2.6 billion. According to Marina Temkin of TechCrunch, the funding round was led by returning investor Thrive Capital, with Andreessen Horowitz also participating. The investment comes just four months after Cursor’s $60 million Series A round. The company’s monthly revenue has grown significantly, reaching $4 million in October 2023. Cursor offers developers a freemium model with tiered pricing options ranging from $20 to $40 per month. Major tech companies including OpenAI, Shopify, and Instacart use the platform. The AI coding assistant was founded in 2022 by four MIT students and graduated from OpenAI’s accelerator program. It competes in a growing market alongside GitHub Copilot and other AI-powered coding tools.
