Some publicly shared Claude conversations and Artifacts have appeared in Google Search results, making them accessible to people who did not receive the original links. Carl Franzen reports for VentureBeat that Reddit and X users found Claude pages through Google queries targeting the service’s sharing URLs.
The issue does not indicate that private Claude accounts were breached. It concerns material that users actively chose to share through Anthropic’s link-sharing tools. However, the reports highlight a gap between what some users expect from “anyone with the link” and how public web pages can work in practice.
VentureBeat says it independently found Claude Artifacts in Google results and could open them without authentication. Artifacts can include interactive apps, dashboards, documents, visualisations and software prototypes. That makes the potential exposure more significant than the indexing of ordinary chat transcripts, particularly for organisations using Claude to create business material.
Anthropic warns users during the sharing process that people with the link can access the content. Yet long, random URLs may lead users to assume the pages are effectively unlisted. Search engines can index pages that are publicly available unless the publisher uses technical controls, such as a noindex directive, to prevent it.
By Sunday, many original search results for Claude conversations had become harder to find, according to the report. It remains unclear whether Anthropic, Google or both changed how the pages are handled. Cached pages, archives and other search engines may still retain some material.
What organisations should review
- Check existing Claude share links and unpublish material that should not be public.
- Explain clearly that link sharing may differ from access restricted to named colleagues.
- Keep confidential plans, customer data and financial information in authenticated enterprise workspaces.
- Review vendor sharing settings, retention rules and indexing controls regularly.
