OpenAI has launched a new beta feature called Tasks that allows ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Pro subscribers to schedule future actions and reminders. The feature enables users to set up both one-time and recurring tasks through the AI chatbot, with notifications delivered via web, desktop, and mobile platforms.
To use the feature, subscribers must select “4o with scheduled tasks” in ChatGPT’s model picker and can then create tasks by typing instructions and scheduling parameters. The system can handle various requests, from daily weather reports to birthday reminders, with a maximum limit of 10 active tasks simultaneously. Users can manage their tasks either directly in chat threads or through a dedicated Tasks section available on the web interface.
The feature currently works on ChatGPT Web, iOS, Android, and MacOS platforms, with Windows support planned for later in the first quarter of 2024. OpenAI states that tasks will run regardless of whether users are online, and notifications can be received through push notifications or email. While the company has not specified if the feature will be available to free users, it appears to be positioning Tasks as a premium feature to help justify its subscription costs of $20 and $200 per month.
