OpenAI has launched a new $100 per month version of its ChatGPT Pro subscription, mainly targeting users of its Codex AI coding tool. Zac Hall reports for 9to5Mac that the new tier sits between the existing $20 per month Plus plan and the original $200 per month Pro plan, which remains available.
The new Pro $100 plan offers five times more usage than Plus. It also includes access to all Pro features, exclusive models, and unlimited access to Instant and Thinking models. As a launch promotion running through May 31, subscribers get ten times the Codex usage compared to Plus.
The $200 Pro plan remains the option for heavier workloads. OpenAI describes it as providing 20 times the usage limits of Plus, suitable for demanding, continuous workflows across multiple projects.
OpenAI states that both plans share the same core capabilities. The key difference is how much usage each plan allows.
The company also released usage figures for Codex. The tool now has more than three million weekly users, representing a fivefold increase over three months. Month over month growth stands at 70 percent.
OpenAI introduced Codex as a Mac app in February. It is designed to help developers build software using AI-driven, automated processes.
