Mobile AI applications have become a significant revenue source, with ChatGPT leading the market. According to a new report by Appfigures, analyzed by Bloomberg’s Vlad Savov, OpenAI’s chatbot has generated $529 million since its mobile launch in May. The total AI app market nearly quadrupled in 2024, reaching $1.4 billion in revenue. US consumers drive approximately half of all AI app sales. The report reveals that chatbots dominate the market, with eight of the top ten downloaded AI apps being virtual assistants. DeepSeek has emerged as a notable competitor, prompting OpenAI CEO Sam Altman to accelerate product releases. The data also shows that most ChatGPT mobile users are between 18 and 24 years old, with a predominantly male user base.
