AMD and Stability AI have launched a new version of the Stable Diffusion 3.0 Medium image generator. According to an article by Anton Shilov in Tom’s Hardware, this model runs locally on laptops equipped with AMD’s latest Ryzen AI processors. It allows users to create high-resolution images from text prompts offline, without an internet connection. The model is specifically tailored for the new XDNA 2 Neural Processing Units, which are specialized AI chips. It generates images and upscales them to a 4-megapixel resolution. To run the model, a PC requires a Ryzen AI 300-series processor and at least 24 GB of RAM. The software is available through the Amuse 3.1 Beta and is free for many users under the Stability AI Community License.
