Solos has launched its AirGo Vision smart glasses at $299, positioning them as a direct competitor to Meta’s Ray-Ban smart eyewear. The glasses feature integration with OpenAI’s GPT-4 AI model and include capabilities such as text translation, providing directions, and offering information about objects in view through a built-in camera. The device can also be integrated with other AI models including Google Gemini and Anthropic’s Claude.
The AirGo Vision incorporates a unique privacy-focused design with swappable frames, allowing users to remove the camera component while retaining audio functionality. The system uses USB-C chargeable hinges to house the battery and touch sensors, and according to Solos, can perform over 2,500 AI interactions on a single charge. The glasses are available in two frame styles – Krypton 1 and Krypton 2 – and come in seven color variations.
Meanwhile, Looktech has announced its entry into the AI glasses market with a lower-priced option starting at $209 through Kickstarter. Their offering includes similar AI assistant capabilities powered by GPT4o, Gemini, and Claude, along with a 13MP camera for photo and video capture. The device features 14-hour battery life, WiFi 6 connectivity, and 32GB storage, demonstrating the rapidly expanding competition in the AI-enabled eyewear sector.
