ElevenLabs releases album with Liza Minnelli and Art Garfunkel created using AI

ElevenLabs has launched “The Eleven Album,” featuring original music from established artists including Liza Minnelli and Art Garfunkel, created in collaboration with the company’s AI music generation system. The project marks one of the first large scale partnerships between artificial intelligence technology and professional musicians, Todd Spangler reports for Variety.

The album features tracks across multiple genres including rap, pop, R&B and EDM. Minnelli contributed an EDM track titled “Kids Wait Till You Hear This,” performed in her actual voice. Garfunkel created a spoken word piece called “Authorship” backed by piano and rain sounds.

ElevenLabs’ Eleven Music system generates compositions from text prompts and allows artists to edit tracks with detailed control over lyrics, timing and instrumentation. The technology provides up to six studio quality stems for further mixing. According to the company, participating artists retain full authorship and commercial rights, with all streaming revenue returning directly to them.

Minnelli, 79, states that the project respects artist voice, choice and ownership. She emphasizes the importance of creators maintaining ownership of their work. Garfunkel, 84, compares the technology to previous musical innovations like microphones and multitrack recording, noting that human musicianship remains central.

Both artists participate in ElevenLabs’ Iconic Voice Marketplace, which licenses AI generated celebrity voices for commercial use. The company has also established partnerships with Kobalt Music and Merlin to involve represented artists in AI music model development.
