The Chinese AI startup Z.ai has launched its new GLM-4.5 family of powerful open source models. According to reporting by Carl Franzen, a key feature is the ability to generate complete PowerPoint presentations from a single prompt. The family includes the flagship model GLM-4.5 and a more efficient version called GLM-4.5-Air. Both models are designed for complex tasks such as reasoning and coding. Z.ai claims its flagship model’s performance is comparable to top proprietary systems like Google’s Gemini 2.5 Pro and Anthropic’s Claude 4 series. The models are released under the commercially friendly Apache 2.0 license, which allows anyone to use or modify them. They are available through Z.ai’s platform and for developers via an API.
